Sulzer Pumps will supply the biggest boiler feed pump in Europe

RWE Power began the construction of these new blocks in the coal fired power station of Neurath using optimized techniques in January 2006 (BoA = Braunkohlekraftwerk mit optimierter Anlagentechnik). Neurath will be the most modern coal fired power station in the world.

The first pump will be on the test bed of Sulzer Pump (UK) Ltd. in Leeds in September 2007. The delivery of the first pump will be in January 2008 with the second pump following about six months later.

Both blocks together will have a performance of 2,200 Megawatt and an efficiency of over 43 %. The use of the most modern technology for power generation results in a significantly efficient exploitation of the lignite and makes a considerable contribution to environmental protection. The yearly CO2 emissions will be reduced by six million tons. RWE invested 2.2 billion Euros in this project. The construction will take about four years so that the production will probably start in the year 2010.
