Sulzer Pumps (UK) Ltd specializes in the production, packaging and testing of highly engineered pumps for the Oil & Gas and Power segments. The company’s success in recent years meant the capacity of it’s purpose built facility in Leeds is heavily stretched to meet demand. Load is particularly heavy in the pump packaging department where the pumps are mounted on baseplates with their electric motor or gas turbine drivers. This highly specialised operation requires space, lifting capacity and a skilled workforce to meet the quality levels demanded by the market.

As the company’s Leeds site is operating close to maximum capacity a second site was sought that could fulfill the above requirements.

An ideal solution has been found in Liverpool at a facility in the Atlantic Park-Bootle complex. In addition to packaging pumps, the facility has the potential to allow gas turbine driven compressors to be tested expanding the scope of work that can be performed on the site.

An 8 year agreement to lease the 8 300 sq metre premises was signed on 7 November 2008 and plans are well in hand to  start work    on 8th December 2008. The new facility will in the first instance create 44 jobs all of whom have been recruited from skilled & experienced people in the local area.

This investment shows Sulzer Pumps commitment to the site and is key to maintaining the company’s position of being a leading supplier of engineered pumps to the global Oil & Gas and Power sectors.
