Sulzer to supply pumps for 4 790 megawatt coal fired power station
Sulzer Awarded Key Power Project in South Africa

Sulzer Pumps South Africa will project manage, manufacture, and test the pumps in its Johannesburg facility ensuring the highest possible project value is retained within South Africa. The pumps will be delivered in phases beginning in late 2009 to match the building of the six individual 798.3 megawatt power generating blocks that make up the station’s capacity. Final deliveries will be in mid 2011.

The company has a long tradition of manufacturing pumps in South Africa for the power generation, mining, water and refining sectors. The Johannesburg facility is fully equipped to engineer and manufacture a wide range of pumps to serve these markets. As part of a network of 14 Sulzer Pumps factories world wide, the facility is able to draw on the considerable resources of its sister plants if required.

Sulzer Pumps has a strong technological basis and significant experience in building pumps for the latest generation of high efficiency super critical power stations.
