Biofuels are a general term for fuel products produced from different kinds of biomasses. The first-generation biofuels are mostly produced from feedstock that is also used for food products. The second-generation biofuels, which come from non-food sources, have high potential as a renewable fuel.

Sulzer Pumps has a strong position as a pump and agitator supplier in the biofuels industry. For the first-generation biofuels, Sulzer Pumps equipped a large portion of the production plants in the USA and Europe with its pumps and agitators. Now we are heading for the second generation. Our long-term development work is supporting our biofuels customers to design and build sustainable and competitive processes. This development in biofuels is an exciting challenge for Sulzer Pumps as we can combine and benefit from our large know-how portfolios in pumping, mixing, materials and fiber technology.
