As no water is needed for the seal, customers will save water and water treatment costs over a single campaign, not to mention the savings over the whole life span of the pumps. The dynamic seal is also extremely reliable as no sensitive mechanical seal faces are present. Another innovation related to the sugar and starch industry is the gas and air removing pump. Pumping of liquid which contains air can be an impossible task for a normal centrifugal pump. Sulzer’s self-priming degassing pumps will handle these air containing liquids and slurries in a stable manner as they will remove air from the volute casing.
