Sulzer Pumps Hydraulic specialist presented IMechE award (13/05/2008, )
Philippe Dupont, Head of Hydraulic Development for Sulzer Pumps in Winterthur Switzerland, was presented with the award for ‘Best Technical Paper’ at the recent IMechE 10th Annual European Fluid Machinery Congress held in Amsterdam. The paper, entitled “Impeller Life Prediction in Pumps” was co-authored with Gary Fitch, Manager Hydraulics and Applications, at Sulzer Pumps (UK) Ltd.

Over 3000 users sign up to select Sulzer pumps online (26/03/2008, )
Online Sulzer Select system proves a hit with customers. Sulzer Select, the free online pump selection service provided by Sulzer Pumps recently recorded its 3 000th registered user. Launched in September 2007, the system has proved an instant success with users from all over the globe providing access to select a wide range of Sulzer Pumps products.

Sulzer Pumps (UK) Ltd officially opens new Glasgow office (21/09/2007, )
Sulzer Pumps has officially opened its new Glasgow engineering, purchasing and sales center. The office is located in Orbital House, East Kilbride and is currently configured for 24 staff with space for further expansion in the future.

Innovative new multiphase pump developed (30/08/2007, )
Unitl now, all multiphase pumping applications were related to unprocessed fluid coming from the wells of an oil field.
Generally speaking, the pressure boost requirement was relatively high (at least 10 bar / 150 psi) and the required flow up to 4,000 m3/h (17,500 USgpm). The pumped fluid was a mixture of oil, water and gas (up to 95% gas content) plus a small amount of solid particles such as sand. Typically, multiphase pumping was an upstream production application resulting in a multistage design.

Official opening of state of the art pump service centre (20/07/2007, )
A 3 million Euro investment in the expansion and upgrading of the Leeds Customer Support Service Centre was officially opened on July 19th by Kim Jackson, President of Sulzer Pumps. Customers visiting the new facility as part of an organised launch event joined employees to witness the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.

Sulzer Wood Ltd expands Ellon facility to better serve customers (12/07/2007, )
New jobs created
Sulzer Wood Ltd, a joint venture between Sulzer Pumps and John Wood Group PLC, has increased the size of its pump and compressor service facility in Ellon, Scotland from 25,000 sq ft to 60,000 sq ft to provide enhanced levels of service for clients in the North Sea oil & gas industry.

Sulzer Select allows customers to select pumps plus print curves and datasheets online
Sulzer Pumps is pleased to announce the release of our new hydraulic selection program, Sulzer Select. Sulzer Select allows our customers to make quick, accurate pump selections and to produce PDF output of the resulting performance curve and data. Sulzer Select is an internet based program and does not require any special software to be loaded onto the user's computer.

New power station in Neurath by RWE
Sulzer Pumps will supply the biggest boiler feed pump in Europe
In January 2008, Sulzer Pumps will deliver the first main boiler feed pump for the new power station in Neurath, Germany (BoA 2 & 3). The Sulzer pump (type HPT) is the biggest turbo boiler feed water pump in Europe with a capacity of 4,100 m3/h and a head of 4,200 m. The booster and main pump combined deliver the design performance of 50,000 kW. The pumps are driven by a steam turbine.

Major Pipeline Order for Sulzer Pumps (17/11/2006, )
Sulzer Pumps (UK) Ltd has been awarded a multi million Euro order to supply 20 HPDM main pipeline pumps with electric motors rated at 14.5 MW each, 6 VCR vertical booster pumps and 11 VCR vertical loading pumps for the first phase of the strategically important Eastern Siberia To Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline. This project is a key infrastructure investment by JSC "AK "Transneft" to transport crude oil to the Eastern markets and permit the economic development of Eastern Siberia and the Far East of Russia.

New top management to take over in April 2007 (27/09/2006, )
Leonardo Vannotti, member of the board of directors since 1993 and its chairman since 2001, will retire at the annual shareholders’ meeting in April 2007. The present Sulzer CEO, Ulf Berg, will be proposed for election to the board at the same time. If elected, he will be nominated as chairman of the board. Ton Büchner, currently president of the division Sulzer Pumps, has been appointed as the new Sulzer CEO. He will also assume his new position in April 2007. His successor as president of Sulzer Pumps will be Kim Jackson, who is presently head of the Asian area in the same division.
